Sculpture event returning to WC
The arts will come alive again in Webster City next week with the return of the annual sculpture event.
From Aug. 6 to Aug. 8, the Take Pride in Webster City Committee will host the fourth annual Arts R Alive Sculpture Event in West Twin Park. Seven artists have submitted pieces for the event.
Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite sculpture on Aug. 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The sculpture with the most votes will receive the people’s choice award.
An artist talk will be held on Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. The talk will feature the artists who will give comments about their piece and answer questions from the public.
Martin Arthur, director of the Hearst Center for the Arts at the University of Northern Iowa, will judge the pieces and make comments about them on Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
This is the first sculpture event that will feature live music. The Jive For Five brass band, a group of area band instructors, will play on Aug. 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Josh Seiser will provide recorded music on Aug. 6.
Refreshments will also be provided for the public each evening of the event.
