Hawks pick up all-HOIC nods for junior outfielders Olson, Rader

WEBSTER CITY – A difficult season in the treacherous Heart of Iowa Conference left the South Hamilton baseball team with just two all-conference honors at season’s end.

Junior outfielders Caleb Olson and JD Rader were both named to the honorable mention squad after the Hawks put together a 3-20 campaign.

North Polk won the conference title and went on to claim the Class 2A state championship last week. Roland-Story reached the 2A semifinals before being knocked out of contention by the Comets.

North Polk senior pitcher Cole Jackson was named the captain of the 2A all-state team by the Iowa Newspaper Association earlier this week.

Olson hit .288 and Rader turned in a .204 average during the season. They combined to drive in 11 runs.
