Last chance to dive in
As the start of school nears, the Webster City Outdoor Pool is set to close soon for the season.
The pool will be open for adult lap swim from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and open swim from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. through Monday.
Pool Manager Morgan Moline said it was a slower year for the pool. She attributed the lower turnout to cooler temperatures and inclement weather throughout summer. However, Moline said many people still came out to the pool for a good time.
“It hasn’t been as busy as we would have liked it to be, but it’s still been a good summer overall,” Moline said.
This year, Moline said the pool saw its first lifeguard save in a long time. Near the end of July, she said that a child jumped into the diving well and began calling for help. Lifeguard Libby Hanson assisted the child.
“She got off her chair and did what she was supposed to do, threw out her tube and was able to help him out,” Moline said. “He was fine and everything went well.”
Moline said that the save was impressive for Hanson who is a first-year lifeguard.
